In 1979, several faculty, alumni and friends of the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology had a million-dollar idea - to start a foundation that would benefit, promote and support the college and its programs. The supporters set out to raise $1 million in endowed funds. Today, the Ag One endowment fund is comprised of nearly 100 named funds totaling approximately $14 million.
One of the programs that has contributed to this success is the Community Salute. Since 1987, the Community Salute has honored extraordinary individuals for their devoted service to California agriculture and food systems industries as well as unwavering commitment to our community. We are delighted to honor Mr. Stewart A. Resnick in 2012. His entrepreneurial spirit, astute business acumen, and the profound way he has given back to the Valley, in education and healthcare especially, make him a very worthy honoree. Proceeds from the event will establish the Ag One - Stewart A. Resnick Endowment to support deserving students and/or programs in the Jordan College. Over the years, donors, board members and volunteers have made it possible to award some 3,200 students with over $2.2 million in scholarships and grants. For the current academic year, Ag One will provide approximately $475,000 to deserving students and programs.
